Telford Town Centre

Telford Town Centre is the commercial centre of the town of Telford, England. The area was designated by the Telford Development Corporation (now Telford Development Agency). The land was largely undeveloped before the advent of Telford new town. It is the largest indoor shopping centre in Shropshire.

[edit] Telford Shopping Centre
The main feature is the Telford Shopping Centre, an indoor mall with over 180 shops. The centre is owned by the Universities Superannuation Scheme.
Sherwood Square in Telford Shopping Centre is host to the "Telford Time Machine", a large animated feature clock spanning most of the width of the square. This square is rarely seen empty, and often plays host to small exhibitions, mini-markets, Santa's Grotto, a children's plastic "ice rink" and a variety of other events.

There is also the International Centre, which is a major conference/exhibition venue.
The headquarters of the Telford and Wrekin unitary authority is located here.
Telford Town Park is a 1.8 square kilometre area of open space.

There has been some controversy amongst traders and other local people in other parts of Telford, such as Wellington, Oakengates, Madeley and Dawley, about the impact of the centre on local traders.

The area is best reached via junction 5 of the M54 motorway, The centre has adequate parking facilities however subject to parking charges [1]. There is also a railway station ("Telford Central") within walking distance, also with regular buses from the railway station via services 33, 44 & 55 operated by Arriva. Hourly bus services to the bus station at the centre run from Wolverhampton, Shrewsbury and Stafford.

The shopping centre was recently extended.
Car parking charges were introduced to the car parks surrounding the shopping centre.
