Television stations in Scotland

Viewers in Scotland receive four or five public terrestrial television stations. All of these are regional variants/opt-outs upon British television channels
The Scottish-based channels are:
- BBC One Scotland
- BBC Two Scotland
- An ITV station depending on region:
- Scottish Television which is based in Glasgow and covers the central belt of Scotland. It is owned by SMG plc, a company which has evolved from the station.
- Grampian Television which is based in Aberdeen, and covers Tayside, the North East and Highlands and Islands. It is also owned by SMG, and differs little from Scottish in its regional programming, other than the local news and weather.
- Note: Both Scottish TV and Grampian TV are now known as STV.
- Border Television (known on air as ITV1 Border), which is based just over the border in Carlisle, England. Border TV covers both the Scottish and English borderlands and the crown dependency of the Isle of Man.
In addition to the three Scottish stations, the country also receives two UK-wide channels, as well as a multitude of European digital and satellite stations:
- Channel 4
- Five, whose broadcast coverage is limited, and is often difficult or impossible to receive.
There is also a Freeview Scottish Gaelic TV channel, Tele-G.
