Mergist extremism hurts Wikipedia - Mergists claim article proliferation makes Wikipedia "harder to navigate and more difficult to organize", but the answer is hypertext, they don't call this the World Wide Web for nothing. Why should a reader have to scroll through a long article about several related, yet distinct subjects when they ought to be able to follow a link straight to what they need. Merging has its place, but use common sense. Stubs are not evil.

Don't redirect mispelings - It is not very obvious when someone is redirected, so if I type in Potatoe and an article pops up I'll never know I spelled it wrong. A tool for learning should not accommodate the perpetuation of ignorance. Spelling suggestion will eventually be added to the MediaWiki software but we shouldn't make a mess of the database now. A spell checker won't work very well when every misspelling corresponds to an actual article.
