Tekke

Tekke can refer to several things:

  • The Tekke (Teke) are a tribe of southern Turkmenistan most famous for their horses, the Akhal-Teke desert horse.
  • Khanqah, a building designed specifically for gatherings of a Sufi brotherhood, or tariqa. In Turkey and Turkish-influenced areas like Albania and Bosnia, similar buildings are called locally Tekke or Tekye (تكيه).
  • Fatih Tekke, Turkish footballer
  • Teqe in Albanian is the Bektashi place of worship, its equivalent in Turkish Bektashism ( Alevi ) is Cemevi.
