Teirm is a fictional city in Christopher Paolini's Inheritance Trilogy. It is located in Paolini's fantasy world, Alagaesia. Teirm is the Empire's main port city and is located on the coast, west of The Spine.

[edit] Design

The tallest buildings in the city are located in the northeast section of the city, situated against the gigantic citadel. The buildings become continually smaller, the smallest houses being set against the large white wall surrounding the city.

The strategy behind this planning is if the outer areas of the city were breached, archers could stand on the roofs of the houses and shoot down their targets. Those on the taller buildings would not have to worry about accidentally shooting their allies due to the decreasing size of the buildings.

Teirm has two gates - one facing the sea to the west, and one opening sout towards the land.
