[edit] User Page Style

Happy New Year! I'd have an image but it would probably be the one on your userpage. Do you mind if I totally steal lovingly rip off your navigation bar?? I really like it...--teh tennisman

Happy New Year to you too! It's okay if you take my design; after all, this is wikipedia! I'm glad that you liked it. And a small note: I don't see your name on the Wikipedia:Are You a Wikipediholic Test Table of 20 Highest Scoring Users. Happy editing! sd31415 (sign here) 23:42, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Yeah I know :(. I got knocked off recently. Thanks for noticing though. --teh tennisman 23:54, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

I hear you design userpages. Care to help me out? --teh tennisman 04:14, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

IMHO, I am not really good, compared to users like Essjay (talk contribs) and Daniel.Bryant (talk contribs). But sure, I'll help! sd31415 (sign here) 04:18, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Oh well then I'll ask someone else. SO there. --teh tennisman 04:19, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

A misunderstanding — I still said that I will help you. Want me to "redesign" your pages? sd31415 (sign here) 04:20, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

It was actually a joke. I like what I have on them but the layouts could use some retooling. Got that? Same content, new layout? OK?? Thanks a billion. --teh tennisman 04:22, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Okay I got it. I'll put a new layout later today; right now my "real life" is calling. Expect a redesign soon! sd31415 (sign here) 04:26, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks to the max! I won't be on till Wednesday, so whenever is cool. Thanks some more! Bye! --teh tennisman 04:27, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

I put a new style to your user page. Hope you like it! sd31415 (sign here) 14:21, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

I love it!!! Thanks some more!! --teh tennisman 14:10, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you for your consideration

Thank you for the consideration you gave to my RfA. To be chosen as an administrator requires a high level of confidence by a broad section of the community. Although I received a great deal of support, at this time I do not hold the level of confidence required, and the RfA did not pass. Yours was one of the neutral votes, and raised concerns. I am more than willing to discuss those concerns with you if you are interested. Please let me know. Sincerely, --BostonMA talk 13:09, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image on your userpage

Hello I have noticed that you have this image on your userpage. The image is of fair use and fair use images are not allowed on userpages. This friendly reminder was brought to you by — Arjun  :p Cheers! — Arjun 21:44, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

I have replied on my talk page. Cheers! — Arjun 21:51, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Navigation Bar

Hey Teh Tennisman! I hope you don't mind that I copied and edited your navigation bar to my page. "After all, it's a Wiki" RyGuy Happy New Year! 12:32, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: My new ER

Hello there. I will write one next weekend. Take care! -- ReyBrujo 03:18, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Where you live

Boy, the world sure can be small sometimes. If you don't mind, what are their names? I might even know them. None of my family live in Michigan, though :). Reywas92TalkSigs 22:52, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Nope, I don't know any Willmans. That would we quite a coincidence if I did! Reywas92TalkSigs 22:56, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] My Request for Adminship

Thanks for contributing to my RfA! Thank you for your support in my my RfA, which passed with a tally of 117/0/1. I hope that my conduct as an admin lives up to the somewhat flattering confidence the community has shown in me. I could just leave this as a generic cliche thank-you, but I'd like to say I really valued all of my supporters, and like everyone else you have received a unique thankyou! Please don't hesitate to leave a message on my talk page should you need anything or want to discuss something with me.--Nilfanion (talk) 16:07, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RFA

Hi there, I'd like to thank you for your advice on my RFA. You recommended that I withdraw it but it failed anyway! I'm going to apply in a few months time when I have more experience, much more mainspace edits and that sort of thing. Thanks for your adivce and I hope you'll support me in the future (I wouldn't mind if you don't because everyone has the right to their own opinion)

Respectfully... TellyaddictTalk 16:10, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] My RFA

Hey, thanks for participating in my recent RFA. You were amongst a number of editors who remained neutral on the topic. The RFA did not succeed (69/26/11). I am extremely grateful that you took the time to advise me on to improve as a Wikipedian and I'd like to assure you that I'll do my level best to develop my skills here to a point where you may feel you could trust me with the mop.

I've been blown away by the level of interest taken in my RFA and appreciate the time and energy dedicated by all the editors who have contributed to it, support, oppose and neutral alike. I hope to bump into you again soon and look forward to serving you and Wikipedia in any way I can. Cheers! The Rambling Man 19:52, 11 January 2007 (UTC) (the non-admin, formerly known as Budgiekiller)

[edit] Re: My Sig Book

My apologies! I made that comment in jest only (à la RFA), and never mean for it to be taken seriously-- I meant only to place a ridiculous amount of importance on areas usually seen as quite peripheral. Sometimes I forget how jokes in written form can fail because of the absence of a facial expression or vocal inflection that belies sarcasm, and single :P can only go so far. I will be more careful in the future. Since it did not seem to be a joke to you, it may also seem this way to others, so I have added a note about this below my comment, but feel free to remove either or both as you see fit, since it is your signature book. Once again, I apologize for any seeming bad faith in the message, and wish you all the best now as before. Dar-Ape 22:13, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Jolly good, then. :-) Dar-Ape 22:24, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
This is no longer being updated-- see Wikipedia:POTD column. You'll probably want to switch to one of the other options. Cheers, Dar-Ape 22:32, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
Sure, anytime! Dar-Ape 22:47, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WP:ADOPT

Hi there,

As a user looking to Adopt with the Adopt-a-User program, there has been some ongoing developments that we would like to bring to your attention, as well as request help with the backlog at Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user.

You should know that the way the adoption process works has changed slightly. To decrease workload at Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user on offering adoption please change the {{Adoptme}} template to {{Adoptoffer}} on the user's user page, and this will add the user to Category:Wikipedians having been offered adoption. Users that have already been offered adoption can always have a second or third offer, but by separating out those users that have not had an adoption offer yet, it is hoped that no one will go lacking. Once adoption is complete please use the templates found here on the Adoptee's and your user page.

Also numerous Adopters have been adding their details to a list of users available for adopting, to offer a more personalised service and allow new users to browse through and pick their own Adopter. The quickest way to adopt though, is still to contact users at the Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user.

Furthermore a new Adopter's Area has been created where you can find useful resources and other Adopter's experiences. Please feel free to add any resources you have and if you know of any useful resources for new users / Adoptees then you can add them here.

So I hope you get adopting soon - and if you have any general questions or suggestions about the further development of Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User please bring them to our talk page. Cheers Lethaniol 15:24, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: My ER (again)

I started doing some, but then received a couple of mails with images for Commons, and focused on that. I will finish it now and post it in a couple of hours. -- ReyBrujo 22:12, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

There is little else we can say. Anyone saying something else is hiding the truth. We are not trying to make you upset, but instead, we are trying to make you understand: there are little chances for you if you continue this way, unless you are an exceptional case (like User:Phaedriel, who almost got 300 support opinions). Yes, you are doing great, and are advancing in your Wikipedia spirit, but since you are asking how we see you for administrator and not how you are doing as an editor, it becomes harder to hide the truth. Of course, you can try an RFA, but believe me, receiving a slap of 4 oppose for every support opinion really hurts a not prepared soul. Good luck! -- ReyBrujo 01:48, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Happy Wikipedia Day!

[edit] Qmwnebrvtcyxuz

You recently signed my signature book, asking if my Username was random-keyboard-mashing. The answer is no. it is the first letter on the keyboard, then the last, then the one after the first then the before the last, then two after the first, then two before the last, etc. ending at z. [edit] My commons account userpage (Reply)

Any chance you could help me with my commons page? I'm not sure which templates do and do not work there, and do not have pages and such. Thanks!(?) --tennisman sign here! 23:48, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Hope you like it! S.D. ¿п? § 00:52, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HELP! (Reply)

Something went wrong with my userpage when I copy-pasted all of the info and make section templates so it wouldn't be so long in the edit window. Instead of being neat and in rows, everything is in one big box. Since you designed the page, can you (please) help me? --tennisman sign here! 13:43, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

It looks fine to me (in rows). Could explain to me what you need? Happy editing! S.D. ¿п? § 13:50, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

That's EXTREMELY weird. When I first did it, all of the row sizes were messed up. Oh well, it seems to have fixed itself. Thanks anyway. (PS-Do you EVER sleep? It seems like you're always on...)--tennisman sign here! 13:52, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

I live on central time, and I'm not always on (if you check my contributions). But sometimes it may seem that way (that I'm always on). Cheers! S.D. ¿п? § 13:55, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

I award you this barnstar for your tireless work on other's userpages, not a small feat. Cheers! tennisman sign here! 13:57, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks a lot! I just help others because I learn a lot about wiki-code and HTML. Well, back to editing. Happy editing! S.D. ¿п? § 13:59, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Go take a look now. --tennisman sign here! 14:30, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

I see what happened — you forgot to add |} at the end of User:Teh tennisman/Top. Well, hope that fixes your problem. Cheers! S.D. ¿п? § 14:33, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Newyorkbrad's RfA

Thank you for your support on my RfA, which closed favorably this morning, as well as for your very kind comments accompanying your !vote. I appreciate the confidence the community has placed in me and am looking forward to my new responsibilities. Please let me know if ever you have any comments or suggestions, especially as I am learning how to use the tools. Best regards, Newyorkbrad 19:46, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RfA clarification/question

Hi. I noticed you're presently opposing BozMo's AfD: "Oppose for Now per Ganfon" Ganfon opposed based on inexperience, yet BozMo's got 4800+ edits at this point. I'm worried about the edit count threshold for RfAs continuing to creep higher and the precedent this RfA might set.

I also noticed several of the early comments were made when the edit history reporting function was briefly disrupted and BozMo's edit count was under-reported.

What are your thoughts on the minimum experience an RfA candidate should have? --A. B. (talk) 01:07, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] My RfA

Thank you for supporting me in my RfA! It succeeded, and I now have The Tools – which I'm planning to use as wisely as I possibly can. I hope I will be worth your confidence. Thanks again! :-) –mysid 20:36, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

As you set out for Ithaka, hope the voyage is long
Knowledge is your destiny, but don't ever hurry the journey
May there be many summer mornings when
With what pleasure and joy, you come into harbors seen for the first time

Don't expect Ithaka to make you rich. Ithaka gave you the marvelous journey
And, if I, one of your fellow-travellers, can offer something
To make this journey of yours even more fascinating and enjoyable
This is my assistance with anything I can help.
