[edit] Career

The group originally consisted of Altimet, Fiquetional, MizzNina, WiseWard and PingaLoca, which was formed in 1999.

After numerous mic-handlings at hundreds of underground hip-hop gigs around Kuala Lumpur, these five rappers pooled hard-earned loot from their own pockets to record, produce, and release their debut effort, Are We Rap Stars Now?. Though this EP was virtually sold by hand, and marketed only by word-of-mouth with no retail or radio support, TTC's talent and sheer dedication slowly but surely brought in the attention of fans, and even musical giants such as then MD of local indie label, Positive Tone, Ahmad Izham Omar, who enthuses: "This is a landmark release for local hip-hop. TTC financed it themselves, produced it themselves, composed and wrote it themselves, and marketed, promoted, and sold it themselves. I think that it's a very brave thing to do. They are always thinking forward and are proactive.

In 2000, WiseWard and PingaLoca left the group to pursue other interests. The remaining three MCs, however, refused to be held down and continued their hip hopping relentlessly. The seeds of their persistence first saw the light of day when a song from their EP, "Group Therapy," was picked by Listen.com as an inclusion in their compilation showcase of the best hip hop music available on the Net. TTC was the only non-American artiste featured, and their chosen track was lined up alongside those by hip-hop heavyweights such as Rob Swift, Del, and Handsome Boy Modelling School, among others.

The turn of the new millennium also marked the surfacing of TTC from the underground when they were invited to guest star on records of other Malaysian hip-hop artistes who've already made the leap into the mainstream then, namely Too Phat and Poetic Ammo. This also lead to TTC's collabos with local trip hop outfit, Nightlife Camera, as well as their crossing the Southern border to work with Singaporean hip hoppers, GS.

In 2001, TTC saw the addition of a new member, DJ Fuzz, who, more importantly, brought with him a crucial hip-hop element to the Crew. "The backbone of hip hop is a DJ, so Fuzz being an official member instead of just a sessionist is a logical progression for us," commented Fiquetional, in an interview.
