[edit] Image copyright tag problems

Dude, Image:Hunters of gor.JPG ain't subject to "I, the creator of this work, hereby release it into the public domain" declarations unless you're the both the original cover artist AND the copyright-holder... AnonMoos 09:01, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

Please stop uploading these images with both PD-self and bookcover, if you upload images from bookcovers then only use this license. You have no copyright on these images. --Denniss 20:31, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Ocean_ad.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:Ocean_ad.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

[edit] Don't Buy This images

Would you mind taking screenshots of Fruit Machine and Weasel Willy for the Don't Buy This article? I just stumbled on it today and would like to possibly build it up to Good Article status someting. It's a very unique title.

Also turns out that the images are free use :D Joy.--SeizureDog 10:49, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Piers Polkiss

Hello Tectar, and sorry for not being more specific in my edit summary -- I was actually (quite literally) falling asleep on top of my computer and couldn't do much more than the popups revert, which takes only one click. Anyway, Piers, as you and I know, is a very minor character in the series, and he doesn't merit his own article (no, giving individual characters all their own pages is a HUGE no-no) -- it would be very short (not much more than a sentence or three) and wouldn't stand a snowball's chance surviving AfD. It's actually perfectly legit to include a brief bio in the List of characters in the Harry Potter books page, but nobody seems to have taken that initiative yet. So my suggestion to you is to include the same text that was in the Piers article into the List, and hopefully we can continue to do that for the rest of the characters on the page! --Fbv65edel / ☑t / ☛c || 03:32, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Heart darkness.JPG)

Thanks for uploading Image:Heart darkness.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:In_savage_surrender.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:In_savage_surrender.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ↔NMajdantalk 14:25, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:What happens.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:What happens.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 11:09, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
