    [edit] Not the first

Techwood Homes was an early government-owned housing project, yet it probably was not the first one to be constructed in the United States. It may have been the first one in Georgia.

The Administration of U. S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt constructed government-owned housing projects in Western Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh around 1934.

The Lincoln Administration constructed Freedmen's Village on General Lee's estate named Arlington where Arlington National Cemetery is now located. Freedmen's Village is often regarded as being the first government-owned housing project. TooPotato 18:57, 4 October 2005 (UTC)
