[edit] Game play basics
Kim Possible 3 is a new twist on Disney’s Game Boy Advance series in that this is the first game that actually includes Ron Stoppable as a playable character. This opens up a whole new level of game play possibilities because both characters have to be used together in order to get anywhere in the game. Sometimes Kim has to go on ahead to open doors for Ron and sometimes Ron has to go ahead to gain access for Kim (and sometimes, both are necessary). This makes the game a lot about exploration as each character can get to areas that the other can’t reach. Exploration also yields several rewards, because Kim and Ron can encounter energy spheres to increase their Life Meters, as well as photos and mini games that can be accessed as extras.
Although this game is ideally played by two players via the GBA Link Cable (one player playing as Kim and another player as Ron), single players can play the game by playing as both characters, switching control between them. However, by playing the game alone, there are some additional risks involved. When you switch control between Kim and Ron, the character you’re not controlling will stay where you left her/him and will be unable to defend himself/herself. So be sure your partner is somewhere safe before you make the switch.
Knowing Kim and Ron’s strengths and weaknesses is the key to winning the game, so be sure and log into the Global Justice Training Program to master each of the new moves and gadgets they both acquire along the way. This can be done either when you start the game or by transporting back to Global Justice at any of the game’s numerous save points.

[edit] Kim Possible
Kim is pretty much the best fighter in the game for combat purposes (at least until Ron acquires his Mystical Monkey Power). Her moves chain together nicely and she’s got decent speed to hit her opponent before they can hit her. She also has the ability to swing on branches and pipes and even gains the ability to perform somersaults later in the game. This allows her to jumper wider gaps and also launch more powerful attacks. However, because she learns more moves than Ron, it will require more time to learn how to use her effectively. Spend as much training time at Global Justice as you need in order to master her arsenal. Remember, a skilled Kim player is a good Kim player.
Kim's Moves:
- Jump – (A)
- Attack – (B)
- Somersault – (tap forward on the control pad twice)
- Somersault Jump – (tap forward on the control pad twice + A)
- Somersault Kick – (tap forward on the control pad twice + B)
- Wall Jump – (A, then press the control pad in the direction of the wall you’re facing and A again)
- Power Flip – (tap A twice while swinging from a branch or pipe)
[edit] Ron Stoppable
Ron isn’t quite as gifted a fighter as Kim in the early goings, but by defeating Monkey Fist in the first level, all that changes. The Mystical Monkey Power Foot Stomp that Ron acquires instantly becomes the most powerful move in the game. Use it every chance you get. Not only can it lay waste to stone walls, but it also wipes out multiple enemies in one hit, no matter how much damage they can take. It doesn’t work on Bosses, unfortunately, but it does turn Ron into your best enforcer against the game’s various henchmen. In fact, single players would be wise to send Ron ahead and wipe out any enemies you encounter, allowing Kim to traverse safely. Since Ron’s only real move is his Mystical Monkey Power, he tends to be a little more user friendly than Kim. However, mastering his gadgets will be necessary.
Ron's Moves:
- Jump – (A)
- Attack – (B)
- Dizzy Punch – (B after acquiring Mystical Monkey Power)
- Mystical Monkey Power Foot Stomp – (tap B rapidly after Dizzy Punch until Ron’s Power Meter is full)
[edit] Rufus
Rufus isn’t so much a playable character in this game as much as he is one of Ron’s items. However, you do need him to unlock various openings that Kim and Ron can’t reach on their own. He can also open mini games and puzzles for you to play as you go. Still, you need to take care. While Rufus does have access to his famous choppers, he can only use them against brambles and wires that block his way, not for actually attacking. In fact, any enemy he touches sends him right back into Ron’s pocket, forcing you to start all over again. He also can only be out of Ron’s pocket for a limited period of time, so keep an eye on his timer once you’ve let him out.
Rufus's Moves:
- Jump – (A)
- Bite – (B)
[edit] Gadgets
Both Kim and Ron have access to an arsenal of gadgets that can be selected and used at any time. However, only one gadget can be used at a time, so know what to use when. Also, not all of the gadgets are available right away, so once you acquire them, you'll want to go back to earlier levels and explore areas you couldn't reach before.
[edit] Kim Possible
- Grappling Hook
Kim’s standard grapple can allow her to swing from anything and is by far, the item you’ll use the most while playing her. This is even more useful in allowing her to cross wide chasms than her Somersault Jump. With enough training, players will be able to use her to swing from ceilings with ease.
- The HoloKim
While this handy little gadget can distract enemies temporarily, it has only one real function. It’s primarily meant to distract Dr. Drakken’s BeBeBots, Ver. 1.0 so Ron can defeat them. Work fast though. The HoloKim can only be used for a limited amount of time.
- Boomerang Comb
This is a weapon that can be used offensively, but it doesn’t do a whopping amount of damage. However, it can be used to deactivate switches that are either too far away or are blocked.
- Sonic Mines
In this game, Ron is your primary demolitions expert when it comes to walls, but there are some blockades in the game that even he can’t get through, which is where Kim’s sonic mines come in. Use them to help you explore.

- Rocket Boots
Like Kim’s Grappling Hook, this is the item you’ll end up using the most with Ron. It allows him to make better jumps than Kim to access higher areas and it doesn’t require as much training to use. Use this item as much as possible to make Ron’s travels a lot easier.
- Inflatable Raft
This is a useful little item that serves a couple of purposes. While it can reflect certain attacks, it’s also useful to Kim. There will be times in the game when Kim will have to make big jumps. But since she doesn’t have the benefit of Ron’s Rocket Boots, by holding the raft over his head, Ron can serve as a makeshift trampoline for her. Be quick though, because Ron can only have the raft out for a limited period of time.
- Diablo Sauce
First he’s a monkey, now he’s a dragon. Throwing back a packet of this will allow Ron to blow a stream of fire. This can be used to melt down ice walls in the game as well as give any henchmen a world class hot foot. But take care. Using the Diablo Sauce will put Ron out of breath and leave him vulnerable for a few seconds. So if you’re going to use it offensively, make sure there are no other enemies lying in wait to clobber you afterwards.
[edit] Both
- Rocket Skates
This item can be used by either Kim or Ron, but only at key points in the game. And it's really more of a mini game than anything else. Using the Rocket Skates allows Kim and Ron to jet through specific areas, but the way is littered with water holes, thorns and enemies. The key to surviving is knowing the terrain. Knowing when to jump, when to duck and when to attack. After clearing these areas, return to Global Justice for even more tracks to skate through. See if you can beat your best time.
[edit] Mini games
These mini games are primarily used to open doors in the game for exploration and only Rufus can unlock them. But after you've unlocked them, you can play them in the special Mini Games Section. There are only a few of them and they're hardly difficult, so when you encounter one, you should have no trouble completing them on the first try. But even if you don't, you can always try again, so it's not the end of the world.
[edit] Ancient Puzzle
Fill in the shape shown on the screen using the geometric tiles provided. These tiles can be turned around to ensure they fit in their proper place. Of course, since the shape is outlined, you'll know exactly what tiles to put where, so it's not exactly a challenge.
[edit] Fit the Steel Door
A steel door is slowly closing. The only way to win is by using Rufus to turn the three wheels so that the shape of the base fits the grooves in the door (curve, square or triangle). Match the base to the door to unlock the area
[edit] Color Combination
This is by far, the toughest of the mini games, but still not all too challenging. a locked door requires a sequence of three specific colors to open the locks. You have three colors to choose for each lock (red, yellow and green) and you only three chances to get the combination right. The combination could be any of these three colors, but there is a way to win. When you attempt to open the door, lights will flash over each lock to indicate which colors are correct. If a lock doesn't have a light flashing over it, you know a different color is needed. One trick is to try opening the door right off the bat. At least one of the locks will already have the right color on it, so knowing which colors are right will help you correct the ones that are wrong.
[edit] Enemies
There are various minor enemies in Kim Possible 3. Some of them wear different colors to indicate how much damage they can take. However, pretty much all of them can be defeated in one hit by Ron’s Mystical Monkey Power Foot Stomp.
[edit] Anacondas
These snakes are pesky, but don’t attack often, so you have a wide opening to attack and defeat them. Be careful, some of them spit venom!
[edit] Crocodiles
Unfortunately, these enemies can’t be attacked, but they are as helpful as they are threatening. While they serve as stepping stones in rivers, they will occasionally snap at you and dive into the water, leaving you without a leg to stand on. Watch their eyes. Once their eyes move, they’re about to attack, so leave them alone and wait for them to resurface to jump on them.
[edit] Monkey Ninjas
First they’re used by Monkey Fist, then Drakken uses mind control on them. Fortunately, they’re not very fast, so beat them to the punch and take them out.
[edit] The Seniors’ Henchmen
These guys are big and strong, but not much else. Wait until they’re close enough, then attack before they do.
[edit] Señior Senior Jr.
Señior Senior Jr. is another enemy who can’t be attacked, but since all he does is stay on the sidelines and throw disco balls at you (which can be easily avoided), he’s not exactly someone you have to seriously worry about.
[edit] Drakken’s Henchmen
Drakken’s usual assortment of Stun-rod toting goons are always running around. Fortunately, they follow the same rules as the Seniors’ henchmen. Just make sure you beat them to the punch.
[edit] BeBe Bot, Ver. 1.0
This enemy is pesky and can’t be defeated in the usual way. Fortunately, it’s programmed to only attack one target and that’s Kim. Move Kim close enough for it to attack, then activate the HoloKim and move to safety. While BeBe’s trying to attack to HoloKim, send Ron jumping over her to hit the power switch on her back.
[edit] Bosses
Here they are, the heavy hitters. These aren’t the typical enemies you’ve encountered so far. Fortunately, they’re not unbeatable.
[edit] Monkey Fist
Monkey Fist decides not to attack directly, but instead to levitate around the screen while Monkey Idols floating around him do his fighting. Jump at him and attack to swat the Monkey Idols away. Defeating all the Monkey Idols causes Monkey Fist to fall to the ground in a daze, so run over and pound away before he shakes out the cobwebs and calls more Monkey Idols to help him. Kim or Ron can win this fight the first time around, but if you decide to go back and fight him again, Ron’s Mystical Monkey Power won’t work on him, so Kim is the better bet for later encounters. Each time, more Monkey Idols surround him and make it harder to knock him out of the sky, but you’ll have to repeat this pattern about three or four times to take him down for the count. Single players though, will have a tougher time because you can only control one character at a time and Monkey Fist is one Boss where there is no safe place to keep your unused partner. Since he floats all over the screen, your partner will be easy pickings for a Monkey Idol attack. So work fast to defeat him so your partner doesn’t take too much damage.
[edit] Señior Senior Sr.’s Mutant Octopus
This is an enemy that either Kim or Ron can defeat, since you can only go for one hit at a time. Simply keep your partner safely on one side of the pool, then jump on the floating platforms and avoid the tentacle attacks, hitting at the beast until it goes down. The platforms can’t support your weight for long, however, so keep moving and don’t stand on a platform for too long.
[edit] Shego
Shego moves pretty fast and like Monkey Fist,Ron’s Mystical Monkey Power doesn’t work on her,so single players are better off using Kim for this fight.Shego strikes fast and hard and fights a lot like Kim does. But if you’ve taken the time to explore the game, you should have both Kim and Ron’s Life Meters maxed out, so you should be able to outlast her in a toe-to-toe slug fest,Just make sure that Ron is safely out of range of the battle, then stay close to Shego and keep attacking.Whale away on her enough and she should easily go down before you do.
[edit] Dr. Drakken
Like Senior Senior Sr.’s Mutant Octopus, this is a fight that either Kim or Ron can win, so pick your favorite, make sure your partner is safely behind Drakken’s forcefield and get ready to rumble. Drakken doesn’t fight you himself, but rather hides out in a flying pod that has an arsenal of four different weapons. He switches each weapon out after he’s taken a certain amount of damage. Fortunately, his pattern is easy. He attacks once, then his power core drops out of his pod, allowing you to attack it. Again, like the mutant Octopus, the power core only takes one hit at a time, so this fight will be time consuming. But once you know the pattern to each of his weapons, they are easy to dodge. Just stick with a hit n’ run method and you should have no trouble taking the mad scientist out and winning the game.
