[edit] Get well

Thanks. WikiThanks.
Hi Ding Xiang, sending you my Get Well wishes and hoping you will get your voice back soon! Take good care of yourself ! --Vsion (talk) 08:52, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Another Esperanzial note...

Hi again Esperanzians! Well, since our last frolic in the realms of news, the Advisory Council has met twice more (see WP:ESP/ACM2 and WP:ESP/ACM3). As a result, the charter has been ammended twice (see here for details) and all of the shortcuts have been standardised (see the summary for more details). Also of note is the Valentines ball that will take place in the Esperanza IRC channel on the 14th of February (tomorrow). It will start at 6pm UTC and go on until everyone's had enough! I hope to see you all there! Also, the spamlist has been dissolved - all Esperanzians will now recieve this update "newsletter".

The other major notice I need to tell you about is the upcoming Esperanza Advisory Council Elections. These will take place from 12:00 UTC on February 20th to 11:59 UTC on February 27th. The official handing-over will take place the following day. Candidates are able to volunteer any time before the 20th, so long as they are already listed on the members list. Anyone currently listed on the memberlist can vote. In a change since last time, if you have already been a member of the leadership, you may run again. Due to the neutrality precident, I will not vote for anyone.

Yours, as ever, Esperanzially,

[edit] About Huaiwei's block (Formal letter)

(from my talk page) -- Wgfinley 05:55, 17 February 2006 (UTC) Dear sir.It has come to my knowledge that you have blocked Huaiwei over edit wars. However, this is his testimonial that he gave me.(On MSN Messenger, as of 10:07, 15 February 2006 (UTC))

Huaiwei stated:

  • Arbcom rulings were only related to his disputes over China-related content with Instantnood.
  • It has nothing to do with how he conducts myself with others or on other topics. He find it ridiculous to be banned over even the most legitimage edits just because he chose to write long commmentaries in the edit summary.

I hope you can look into this matter and consider the block.Thank you. Tdxiang10:07, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

In regard to Huaiwei's claims he is mistaken on several counts.
  1. His probation was amended to extend to all articles [1]
  2. He was blocked for further violations of his probation after he had already been blocked for a week [2]
He is welcome to voice his point of view on his talk page and contribute to his latest arb case, he hasn't done either that I've seen.
Let me know if I can be of further help. --Wgfinley 05:55, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your WikiBreak

On grades, I understand that it is an unfortunate fact of life in the harsh environment of Singapore's pressure-cooker system, but remember it's not everything in life. I sincerely hope you'll be back soon. - Don't give up on your hobby! After all, Wikipedia did help me somewhat in improving my own grades, and I hope it will be for you too. - Best regards, Mailer Diablo 17:35, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your departure

Hi Ding Xiang, I know you have to concentrate on your studies. Our education system gives a lot of pressure on we students. Wikipedia can be of good use, when you are finding Science-related topics, current events, litereature, history and geography. When your grades improve, do come back and edit. Like what Mailer said, "it's not everything in life". All the best in your studies. --Terence Ong 07:46, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Your departure

Ding Xiang,

I understand your decision to leave. However, I hope that you come back to contribute every now and then, no matter how small an edit, and look forward to seeing you at the meetup in July. — Kimchi.sg | Talk 09:51, 22 February 2006 (UTC) P.S. I have to struggle with uni course work too. ;-)

[edit] Farewell

I personally feel that I should do the same, if my grades decrease too. I have engaged with one traumatic quarrel with that stupid Mel Etitis, who hogged me in to his arguement, reverting edits for minor reasons at the expense of others, dismissing lame excuses such as those edits were too great to be picked out (some were easily detected, however), and that also pulled my grades down significatntly. However, the Chinese wikipedia is sometimes an alternative as well, and I visit there occasionally to do some edits in Chinese [3], and that significantly improves my Chinese, of which relying on Singapore's syllabus to learn Chinese would bring me nowhere. I do not take higher Chinese, however. Try to make a visit there, if you wish, for it relaxes your mind instead of meeting the same old people here, many of which are very hostile people to me.

Like you, I would either engage in wikipedia less actively or quit totally if conditions prevail. Cheers!

Amen. May God bless you. Mr Tan 08:45, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] До свидания!

What's up with the Russian, I wonder. :D In any case, best of luck to you. May you return under more auspicious circumstances. -- Миборовский U|T|C|M|E|Chugoku Banzai! 09:51, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sock/leaving

Hey...thanks for checking out DND. No, it's not a sockpuppet. I made it myself, and varified that I did by signing my name (while signed in under the VG account) on DND's userpage. Unfortunately, as I see you're leaving wikipedia, you probably won't get this message, but I left it for when you come back. I respect you leaving...I've "left", too, thus the "lateness" of my reply. Thanks!--ViolinGirl 22:46, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:TDX-one.ogg

Thanks for uploading Image:TDX-one.ogg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. BRossow 21:19, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hi again

[edit] Your RFA

Hey Ding Xiang, I've added a question to your RFA. NSLE (T+C) at 11:02 UTC (2006-02-28)

[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Spoken Wikipedia

When you record a spoken article, please also add it manually to Category:Spoken articles. I'm working on making the uploading instructions more clear. Thanks! -SCEhardT 16:22, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Userpage edits

I don't want to seem rude or unappreciative, but you've edited my userpage and/or subpages that are transcluded on my userpage a couple times now to add items without discussing it with me. Please don't do this; I've worked very hard to get my userpage exactly the way I want it, and I really would prefer that it not be altered. If you have suggestions for items, categories, etc., please leave me a talk page message rather than editing the page directly. Essjay TalkContact 06:55, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Signature

Your signature worked fine on my talk page. If you copy and pasted it, try going to your preferences and select the "Raw Signature" box, this will probably fix the problem. Hope this helps. Johann Wolfgang 04:12, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

Your welcome

[edit] Image Tagging for Image:BSheares.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:BSheares.jpg. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to indicate why we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies under Wikipedia's fair use guidelines, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you want the image to be deleted, tag it as {{db-unksource}}.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.

Try putting the full, specific URL of the website. It is the responsibility of the uploader to do this, rather than other editors having to go hunting for it. The JPS 13:08, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Name Change

Hi Ding Xiang, actually a doppelganger account for capitalisation is not needed. Anyway, thanks for your advice. ;) However, I may look into it later. --Terence Ong 09:43, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Meetup on 15th March

Hi Ding Xiang, we are planning an informal meetup of SGpedians on 15th March (Wednesday). The venue and activities are TBC. Please reply on my user talk whether you can come. Thanks, — Kimchi.sg | Talk 14:57, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your RFA

Hi Tdxiang, Your RFA unfortunately did not receive the required level of support to promote you and so I had to fail it. You can reflect on what went wrong, and perhaps later try again. Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 12:06, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
