Tayyab Sheikh

Tayyab Sheikh is a convicted gang rapist. He was a member of a Lebanese Australian gang rape attack squad during the Sydney gang rapes who was involved in the August 30 rape which targeted White Australian females.

Sheikh was originally tried by a jury in a case known as Regina vs. Sheikh (2004). However, in a controversial decision, two judges, Keith Mason (president of the Court of Appeal) and James Wood (chief judge of the common law division of the Supreme Court of NSW) overturned Sheikh's conviction in March 2004, citing jury bias against the accused, and ordered a retrial - to which Sheikh was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment with a non-parole period of nine years.

Sheikh himself believed that he has been a victim of Jury and Media bias stating: "Because I am a young man of Middle Eastern appearance, this is what I can expect. What about all those priests who molest children? They're still out there."
