[edit] History

Formed in Perth in 1973 by Barry Nesbitt and hurling priest Fr. Eugene O'Sullivan, the club succesfully drew upon the number of Highlander's living in the central belt as well as the Irish community in Dundee. Over the years the team has had a second team although the wide catchment area and dispersed nature of the player pool has meant that inconsistency has always plagued the club. The club reached the Camanachd Cup semi-final in 1988 and won the national Aviemore sixes in 1990. However most silverware has come in the form of Mod Cups.

The club has inherited many players from Edinburgh University Shinty Club since the move to the summer season.

There was previously a team in the Angus Glens called Strathtay Camanachd. Fr. Eugene was also instrumental in masterminding Abertay University's 2003 Littlejohn Vase triumph. A great figure in the history of the club was the late Willie Dowds, who helped found teams in Perth, Dundee and Glenrothes.

In 2006, BBC Radio nan Gaidheal Rock Music show, Rapal, adopted the team as their official shinty club. The club then proceeded to go on a massive losing streak and also be docked points for failing to fulfil a fixture. The club's team raising difficulties have meant that the club has put out nationwide appeals for players in February 2007.

The club now runs the annual shinty competition at the Blairgowrie Highland Games.
