Taunton is a city in Lyon County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 207 at the 2000 census.
Taunton is home to a large concentration of Breyfogle households. In Taunton, Breyfogle is a common uncommon name.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²), all land.

As of the census2 of 2000, there were 207 people, 72 households, and 39 families residing in the city. The population density was 79.9/km² (206.5/mi²). There were 77 housing units at an average density of 29.7/km² (76.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.55% White, 0.48% Asian, and 0.97% from two or more races.
There were 72 households out of which 23.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.2% were married couples living together, 5.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 45.8% were non-families. 37.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 22.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.24 and the average family size was 3.00.
In the city the population was spread out with 19.8% under the age of 18, 4.3% from 18 to 24, 20.8% from 25 to 44, 13.5% from 45 to 64, and 41.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 50 years. For every 100 females there were 86.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.6 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $23,125, and the median income for a family was $38,125. Males had a median income of $22,500 versus $20,893 for females. The per capita income for the city was $14,658. About 18.5% of families and 25.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 43.3% of those under the age of eighteen and 23.1% of those sixty five or over.
