Tasmania Police

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tasmania Police service was established in 1899 by unification of smaller regional forces. With a force of 1139 officers serving half a million inhabitants, the service has jurisdiction over the Australian state of Tasmania. The force is divided into four geographical districts:

  • Eastern
  • Western
  • Northern
  • Southern

Each district is lead by a Commander. The overall command of the force is under the Commissioner of Police. The current Commissioner is Richard McCreadie.

General Duties officers are issued the Glock 17 handgun.
