Tanya Baxter is a fictional character played by T'Keyah Crystal Keymáh on the comedy television series That's So Raven.

Tanya Baxter was born circa the late 1960s to a psychic, Vivian (Jennifer Lewis). Tanya went to college, and got a degree in teaching, and was an English teacher of high school students. [1] As a young adult, she met Victor Baxter. Their first date was on June 23, 1983 [2], where, by accident, Victor took her to a southern "Ho Down Night" at a restaurant, believing he was taking her to "Mo Town Night. They married, but the union was met with some friction by their families. Victor's mother, Lorretta Baxter (Judyann Elder), believed that Tanya wasn't good enough for her son, and didn't accept Vivian, for her psychic nature.
She and Victor have two children, Raven and Cory Baxter. She is a loving, caring mother, and while cool, she is a strict maternal figure when she needs to be. She and Victor are still happily married, and have a happy life together. She loves her children dearly, and often falls through with maternal advice for their problems.
An aspiring lawyer, she had briefly attended Law School to pursue her dreams of being an attorney. In the fourth season of That's So Raven, Tanya left for England on a law scholarship.
