In her previous album, Complicated, country artist Tanya Tucker had left her longtime producer Jerry Crutchfield. On Tanya, she also left the major record labels behind and started her own company, Tuckertime Records. Five years had passed since her previous album, and her voice had become a little deeper, although retaining the same raspy sound she has always had. What hits there were on this album did not chart very high; by this time "country" radio had gone in a totally different direction from the kind of material that Tanya was performing, and there was little exposure on the airwaves. The highest charting Billboard Country Single was the #34 "A Memory Like I'm Gonna Be." Other noteworthy songs include "Old Weakness (Coming On Strong)," (a minor Billboard #49 Country Single) which had been previously covered by Patty Loveless in 1994's When Fallen Angels Fly, "I Can Live Without You (But Not Very Long)" and "I Can Do That." The album peaked at #39 on the Country Albums chart.
