TANDBERG Television is a manufacturer of digital television broadcast systems, originally with headquarters in Oslo, Norway, now located in Southampton, United Kingdom.
TANDBERG Television was formed in 1979 when the original TANDBERG company split into TANDBERG, TANDBERG Data, and TANDBERG Television.
In December of 2004, TANDBERG Television announced its intention to purchase N2 Broadband, Inc. N2 Broadband (N2 Broadband) was an Atlanta based Video-on-Demand software solutions provider. N2 Broadband was a leader in the development of software solutions for the creation, distribution and management of Video-on-Demand content and networks. After the acquisition, the Americas headquarters of TANDBERG Television were moved to Atlanta, Georgia.
In October of 2005, TANDBERG Television signed a definitive agreement to acquire GoldPocket Interactive, based in Los Angeles, California. GoldPocket Interactive was a leader in interactive television technologies and developed and sold products and services that create, manage, and deliver digital and interactive media.
In February 2006, TANDBERG Television signed a definitive agreement to acquire SkyStream. SkyStream was a Sunnyvale, California-based IP Video delivery solution provider, with their high density Mediaplex-20™ and iPlex™ switched digital video headends for MPEG-2/MPEG-4 AVC encoding and transcoding.
