Tan Sri Darshan Singh Gill was born in India in 1948. He is the youngest son of Bhai Gurdial Singh Gill and Madam Daljit Kaur who hails from India.

Tan Sri Darshan received his early education at Anglo Chinese School Ipoh, Malaysia and thereafter proceeded to United Kingdom to further his studies.
