Tan Joe Hok

Tan Joe Hok (Hendra Kartanegara) — born August 11, 1937 in Bandung, Central Java, Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia) — is an Indonesian badminton hero.

He lived in Bandung until he finished high school. He received his B.S. in Chemistry and Biology from Baylor University, Texas, USA.

He was the first Indonesian who win the All England Cup (1959) and the first Indonesian to win a gold medal in Asian Games (1962). He has many other notable achievements in badminton field, both as a player and a coach.
