Tamra Keenan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tamra Keenan is a female Electronica artist from England who is also part of the duo (Kevin) Beber & Tamra. She was the lead vocalist in David Morales' 2005 number one Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play track "Here I Am."
Tamra's love for music grew while watching her mother perform around Ireland with The Hilton Showband. She came to London aged 16 to pursue a career as a singer and a songwriter. A random meeting in a London taxi with trance producer Blu Peter led to her first release Biological Reaction.
After meeting Breakbeat luminary Kevin Beber in a nightclub they went on to record the much acclaimed Travelling On, which became single of the week with Radio One, NME and the Beats Chart. The Beber and Tamra album Suite Beat Boy followed receiving major press and club recognition. Sell-out gigs included Fabric Live and The Boutique as well as her first Glastonbury performance.
TamRa has always seen the dance scene as a great way to get her voice and lyrics heard but she hopes her solo material will reach a wider audience, as she doesn't want to be pigeon hold in one genre of music. She has since written and recorded with many musicians and leading dance producers including Phil Manzanera (of Roxy music) Alex Yoeman (of Captain (band)) BT (Brian Transeau) and David Morales. Recently her single "Here I Am" with David Morales was No.1 in the Dance Billboard Chart USA and has been used on the sound track to the critically acclaimed movie "The Devil Wears Prada" She has preformed alongside acts such as, The Levellers (band), The Stranglers, Lamb, Fat Boy Slim, Uncle, Oi va voi, Orbital, Atomic hooligan, Hybrid....
Tamra is also part of the hotly tipped act 'Future Funk Squad' and has been preforming around the world (Shanghai, Berlin, Romania, London, ect) promoting their recent album 'Audio Damage'.
TamRa is about lyrics and melodies and hopes 2006 is the year she gets to shine also as a solo artist.
Her first solo album has management backing from music biz veteran Derek Green, who during his career commissioned albums from artistes as original and diverse as Joan Armatrading, The Art Of Noise, Joe Jackson, The Levellers, Morcheeba, Police, Squeeze, and Supertramp. In support is Nick Maddren, a highly respected live sound engineer and project manager
