Taman Shud Case
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Taman Shud Case, (November 30, 1948), Adelaide, Australia, also known as the 'Mystery of the Somerton Man' revolved around an unidentified 45 year old man found dead on the beach. He was in top physical condition. His dental records did not match any known person. He carried no identification. The labels on his expensive business suit and clothing were all missing. The investigating pathologist Sir John Burton Cleland found in one trouser pocket that there was a piece of paper with the words 'Taman Shud' on it. This is a phrase on the last page of a collection of poems called the The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam and it means 'the end.' The identity of the deceased man and even the cause of death remain unsolved to this day.
