Talmadge Hayer
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Talmadge Hayer was one of the convicted assassins of Malcolm X. He was 22 years old at the time of the killing. He was 5'11" and 180 pounds, and lived on Marshall Street, in Paterson, New Jersey. He was a member of the Nation of Islam, and had been previously arrested on 1961 and 1963 for disorderly conduct and possession of stolen guns respectively.
After the conviction, he claimed that Norman 3X Butler and Thomas 15X Johnson were totally innocent, instead claiming that Leon David and Wilbur McKinley had participated in the crime in two affidavits; see Hayer affidavits. Hayer first made this claim on April 30, 1966 at a court hearing in New York.
