Tallia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tallia bel Soon is a fictional character in Ian Irvine's The View from the Mirror quartet.

[edit] Characteristics

Tallia is a tall, well figured woman, with chocolate dark skin. Her long hair is black and her intelligent eyes; brown. She is a very beautiful woman, who has as an attractive personality as she does body. Being the chief lieutenant of Mendark, Tallia often finds herself having to deal with multiple enemies, always coming out on top.

Though she is a master of both armed and unarmed combat, Tallia has much greater skills at her disposal. She is a powerful mancer, although she is still young, in her mid-twenties, nowhere near having reached her full potential. She is very intelligent, grasping matters to do with the Secret Art quite quickly.

[edit] Origins and Earlier Life

Tallia is originally from tropical Crandor. Her grandmother was a very intelligent engineer, who was a respected colleague of Nadiril the Sage. However she is long in her grave. Tallia's parents are still living around the time of Dark is the Moon, as is her Aunt, who had risen to the rank of Deputy Governor of Crandor. Around the age of twelve, Tallia came to the notice of Mendark as some one with great potential in the Secret Art and was taken in as his apprentice. Before hand Tallia was already being tutored on her talents, though nothing is known about this training.

Eventually rising to the rank of chief lieutenant to the Magister, Tallia became a member of the rich and powerful, though this did not change her uncorrupt nature. For a brief time, Taliia had a liasion with Mendark, though it ends long before the beginning of A Shadow on the Glass.

[edit] Powers and Abilities

Tallia's strength of power is greater than that of any ordinary mancer. Her natural talents and skill are very great, however she is still to young to have reached anywhere near her full potential. Tallia's intelligence helps her to increase her power and Faelamor notes that she is clever than her master, Mendark. Rulke also compliments Tallia's skill, after she is able to deliver Llian undetected to his fortress, saying that she has the potential to one day surpass even Mendark in power.

As of yet, Tallia's skills do not allow her to be capable of creating blasts from her finger tips capable of ripping foes apart or to conjure sprites from the ether, but it is likely that she will one day learn how to accomplish such feats. Tallia is quite skilled in the Art of illusion.
