Talk:Tales from the Crypt (comic)

Shuldn't there be some mention of the Comics code and demise of these titles? Seems intrinsic to understanding their social impact. --Ughmonster 02:46, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
I think that's pretty well covered in the article on EC Comics, which is probably where it belongs most since it affected almost all of the EC titles. --Snarky Boy 23:41, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] What was this story?
In the October 2006 issue of Wizard, they had an article talking about the fall of EC Comics. They reprinted the end of what I thought was a tale from The Vault of Horror, but now I think it was from The Crypt of Terror. What happened was this man was desperately trying to pull off this woman's "mask". After he'd torn it off, he found out that the woman had never worn a mask, that he'd just torn off the poor woman's face. Could someone please explain what was going on in the rest of the story? This story, called 'Only Skin Deep' was published in Tales From the Crypt issue 38. It features a young man who goes to New Orleans and at a costume party meets a woman with a beautiful body, but an old lady's face. The two come and see each other at Mardi Gras every year for five years and fall in love. Eventually the man asks the woman to marry him and they do, with their masks still on. After getting married he keeps trying to get her to take off the mask, but she refuses. He has a dream about being in bed with her and she still has the mask on. He takes the mask off, only to find out that she has the identical face under the mask. He wakes up from the dream and finds that she's still wearing the mask. He starts grabbing at her face, trying to take it off and she screams at him not to but he does anyway. It ends up she never wore a mask, and he ends up tearing her face off. Definately one of the more gruesome stories to ever be in EC comics. Quiddity99 22:05, 25 March 2007 (UTC)Quiddity99
