Talapady

Talapady (Talapadi) is a village in Mangalore Taluk (Tehsil) of the Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka state in India.
Talapady borders the state of Kerala. National Highway 17( NH-17 ), connecting Mangalore (Kudla or Mangaluru) to Kasaragod, passes through it. A temple of Durga is at Devipura,Talapady. Goddess Durga parameshwari is the icon of Shakti. Goddess Durga parameshwari is the family deity (Kuladevata) of many people, especially Shivalli Madhva brahmins (Tulu brahmins). The temple is very old and considered to be very sacred.The temple practices some strict traditions like men can enter temple only ,when they are bare chested.

The Talapady is connected by city buses operating from State Bank( Mangalore city ),frequency being 5 minutes. The route numbers of these bus are 42 and 43.Some of the express buses do stop at Talapady highway junction.
