Takahata, Yamagata

Takahata (高畠町; -machi) is a town located in Higashiokitama District, Yamagata, Japan.


As of 2003, the town has an estimated population of 26,361 and a density of 146.42 persons per km². The total area is 180.04 km². Every year, students come to Takahata from Singleton, New South Wales, Australia, and stay with local host families.
