Taj Matthews

Taj Matthews (born March 24, 1976 in San Antonio, Texas) is a journalist, entrepreneur, author of Grandpa was a Preacher: A Letter to my Grandson. The book is the autobiography of his grandfather civil rights icon Rev. Claude Black Jr., who describes life as a minister, civil rights leader and politician. Following in his grandfather's footsteps, Matthews served as president of the Jacksonville NAACP Youth Council during the 1990's. He has been a columnists for the Florida Times Union's Rap Section 1995-1997, San Antonio Snap News, Jacksonville Free Press, Introtainment Magazine and others. Matthews serves as CEO of Omari Productions, a newly formed Communications company that produces small films and commercials. Omari Productions also controls the upcoming publication of Taj Magazine, which covers events in the African American communities across Florida (Jacksonville, Orlando, Daytona Beach, and Tampa. Matthews currently resides in Jacksonville, Florida with his wife Cheryl and two children De'Asia (born 1998) and Omari (born 2000).
