Taiyo Membrane Corporation

Taiyo Membrane Corporation is a supplier of tensile membrane structures within Australia and the Ocenia region. The head office is located in the largely industrial area of Eagle Farm, north-east of the Brisbane CBD in Queensland Australia. TMC is a subsidiary of Taiyo Kogyo Corporation, the largest manufacturer of tensile membrane structures in the world.

Taiyo Membrane Corporation was formed in 1984 in Australia under the name Shade Structures Pacific and originally raised to prominence during World Expo 88 in Brisbane. The company joined the Taiyo Kogyo Group after it joined with USA Company Birdair Inc. (Birdair is a fully owned Taiyo Kogyo Company) in 2001 and became Shade Structures Birdair.
Key Projects
1970 - Taiyo Kogyo introduced membrane structures to visitors from over the world at the Expo '70 World's Fair in Osaka. The U.S. Pavilion demonstrated the first large scale application of a cable-restrained, air-supported membrane structure.
1988 - Taiyo Kogyo completes Tokyo Dome, Japan's first permanent air-supported structure for use as a baseball stadium, and concert facility.
1998 - Millennium Dome (The O2), Greenwich UK (Birdair) World's largest single dome structure to date.
2004 - Karaiskákis Stadium, Athens Olympic Games 2004 (Taiyo Membrane Corporation)
