Taikoo Dockyard
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Taikoo Dockyard (太古船塢) was a dockyard located in the present-day Taikoo Shing and part of Taikoo Place of Quarry Bay on the north shore of Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong. The dockyard had been the largest dockyard in Southeast Asia. The dockyard was founded by Swire.
The Swire Group subsequently decided to use the land to develop a large private housing estate, Taikoo Shing. The dockyard operation then merged with Whampoa Dockyard of Hutchison Whampoa to form a Hong Kong United Dockyard at the west coast of Tsing Yi Island.
