Taihu County

Taihu County is a county in Anhui under the jurisdiction of Anqing City. Its population is 560,000 and its area is 2031 square kilometers. The government of Taihu County is located in Jingxi Town.

Taihu County has jurisdiction over 9 towns and 6 townships.

Taihu is famous for its beautiful lake named "Hua Ting Lake" with beautiful mountains and sceneray waters. The lake was originally built for flood control and power generation with a dam constructed in the 1960s. Though in the earlier days it had been hated for destroying lots of farm land, it is now widely advocated as a traveling place. Indeed it's tremendously beautiful with the water stretching alongside different shapes of mountains. It's extremely nice if one has chance to float with a small boat in the dawm time when the sun raising from behind the faraway mountains. The golden light splashes over the water surface. It's totally natural and really hard to see in other place. For people living in the jammed cities, it is really a deep refresh inside each inch of the body and mind.

Another extradionary beautify of the lake is in some foggy season, the water, mountain and fog intermingled together just like some painting. No painting can match that!

Thanks to the low level in industralization, the natual environment is still well kept, although there is a trend getting worst as no effort is spent to control the daily rubbish, which is a common situation in rural China.

It also has a long history in the Chinese Chan-zong, which is an important tributary of the Chinese buddhist.
