Tahtay Koraro

Tahtay Koraro (Tigrinya "Lower Koraro") is one of the 36 woredas in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Mi'irabawi Zone, Tahtay Koraro is bordered on the southwest by Asigede Tsimbela, on the north by La'ilay Adiyabo, and on the southeast by Medebay Zana. Towns and cities in Tahtay Koraro include Inda Selassie and Semema.

Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 121,059, of whom 60,920 were males and 60,139 were females; 45,227 or 37.36% of its population are urban dwellers, which is less than the Zone average of 14.7%. With an estimated area of 646.88 square kilometers, Tahtay Koraro has an estimated population density of 187.1 people per square kilometer, which is greater than the Zone average of 40.62.[1]
