[edit] In Costa Rica

I can personally verify that Taco Bell exists in Costa Rica. It probably exists in many other latin american countries as well - anyone know where we might find a complete list?

[edit] baja blast in 2001?

even the moutain dew page says 2004. It has to be 2004, I never heard of it back in 2001 --Nytemunkey 00:30, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

" While Taco Bell denies the allegations, the United States Department of Labor has recently broken up five slave-rings with connections to Taco Bell. "

What kind of connections? This para is misleading due to its word choice, so I removed it. WhisperToMe 16:17, 12 Jul 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Taco Bell in Montreal

I was reading through this article and it mentioned that Priszm Brandz is planning on opening a Taco Bell in Montreal, but I can't seem to find that info anywhere. Can anyone find the announcement for it?

[edit] Page needs some info on Chalupas

"Chalupa" redirects to this page (Taco Bell), but there is no mention of Chalupas here at all.

I removed the redirect, though there wasn't much of an article there to begin with. Note that Taco Bell is not the only place that sells chalupas. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 02:04, 12 July 2005 (UTC)

The page also needs a list of menu items, along with a brief description and history of the item. Some examples are the “Zesty Chicken Bowl” and “Grilled Stuffed Burrito”. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dr. Xeal (talk • contribs) 04:50, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

to the above: http://www.tacobell.com/menu/

i think that taco bell is the most discussting thing i ever tasted and with proper research i found some pretty disturbing things about this so called good food i think that the most discussting things about taco bell is that i have blood in the food The preceding unsigned comment was added by 12.205.26.48 (talk • contribs) 21:15, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Zantigo Acquisiton

Taco Bell acquired the Faux-Mex restaurant chain Zantigo in 1986. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 205.213.111.51 (talk • contribs) 15:09, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Style Food

I would like to ask if anyone else thinks that the food style "Mexican-related fast food" should be "Tex-Mex Cuisine style fast food. --Illnab1024 01:23, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

Although many people think of Taco Bell as "Mexican food", almost all of the dishes they serve are either of Tex-Mex origins or are Taco Bell inventions. Even for the few dishes that have a Mexican origin, the Taco Bell versions are more Tex-Mex style than Mexican-style. Thus Tex-Mex is a much more accurate description without getting into long-winded details. BlankVerse 08:24, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Taco Bell in China

Taco Bell China is a Taco Bell franchise, but is a full-service Mexican grill serving things like Albóndigas, grilled salmon, ribs, braised ox tail, fajitas, and alcoholic drinks like Margarita and Corona Mexican beer.

It's so different from the general Taco Bell that it worths to be mentioned. Samuel Curtis 11:23, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

HELP NEEDED: I wanted to add the Chinese franchise to the article. But as I mentioned above, Taco Bell in China is not a fast food chain, but a full-service Mexican bar and grill. Hence, I wonder, if the general provisions about fast food in the overview paragraph and the infobox needed to be changed? Samuel Curtis 16:44, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Third Dessert?

it's actually the fourth, chocotacos were also sold at least at some taco bells, and i believe some franchises still carry them, altho they aren't invented by the company. for the people who aren't familiar with the chocotaco, its an ice cream novelty in the shape of a taco, with wafflecone tacoshell, chocolate covering and icecream inside. [edit] Miscellaneous

I'm as culturally-sensitive as the next guy, but the word "costarricans" is slang. I'm not necessarily arguing for its exclusion, but maybe an explanatory parenthetical would help, such as "due to the fact that traditionally costarricans (people from Costa Rica) consider tacos what is known in Mexico as flautas." In the meantime, I'm fixing some style problems with that sentence, but leaving the word in. If anyone has a problem with this edit, please remember we are trying to inform, rather than exclude.

The new entry will read: "In 2003, Costa Rican Taco Bell franchises temporary marketed their tacos as "Tacos ticos," because for Costarricans, the word "taco" refers to what is known in Mexico as a flauta. ("Tico" and "Costarrican" are colloqial terms for natives of Costa Rica.) Drogue 06:56, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

==Meat "Grades"== The USDA does not "grade" meat on a letter scale, and why woul this apply to a foreign country? Also, speculation and rumor--especially without a source--shouldn't be here Jay 19:33, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Yo quiero Taco Bell

In the article: "In the Spanish language, yo quiero means I want or I love."

I'm spanish, and I love Taco Bell is translated as Yo quiero a Taco Bell (the key is the a), and so the only mean for Yo quiero Taco Bello is I want Taco Bell.

Regards.

Anyway, it's hard to justify saying "Yo quiero a Taco Bell", since that makes Taco Bell a person; "I love Taco Bell" would actually be more like "Me encanta Taco Bell". Djcartwright 02:08, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Taco neck syndrome...

I don't remember exactly, but sometime between 95 and 98, taco bell launched an add campain where people would go to a doctors office or some such place, with their heads at a 90 degree angle. This was the result of them eating an incredible amount of taco bell tacos. As you should know, you tilt your head sideways to eat this. Shaq and some guy from the pistons participated in these commercials.

[edit] guacamoele or guacamole ??

I think it spelled guacamole not with the extra e, anyone else know for sure?--Sweety Rose 19:50, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ryan Larsen's Taco Bell Adventures

Under misc. there is an entry regarding Ryan Larsen pissing on a floor. It doesn't appear noteworthy enough to be worth an encyclopedia entry, as there appear to be no newspaper accounts ("weird news" for instance) or corroboration and appears to be a vanity entry. I hesitate to delete it without checking with the community, however... --Frick898 06:25, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

It was unverified, unencyclopedic, vanity - at best. It's gone now. -GTBacchus(talk) 07:04, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Strip Clubs?!? and Lawsuit

I RV'ed that edit because the corp site does NOT list "strip clubs" as location for Taco Bells. [[1]]

Also the current Lawsuit section needs cleanup it is basically the USA Today copied. --Sweety Rose 21:11, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nacho and Dog

Where they really dropped in 1997?

[edit] Financial and Operating Review

The entire article feels very fluffy and focused on trivia. Can someone take a crack at adding some more information about the growth of the franchise, its profitability, competition, etc.

Tortilla22 15:26, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] PepsiCo

Can someone better elaborate on pepsico's hand in taco bell and what exactly happened in 1997 and what pepsico has to do with it now?--Nytemunkey 06:36, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Demolition Man

The initial Australian release also had Taco Bell changed to Pizza Hut

[edit] Taco Bell outside of Quebec

There were indeed Taco Bell locations outside of Quebec before 2006. I lived in Calgary prior to 2006 and there was at least two locations there that I know of. And they were built prior to 2006. One of the locations is in Westhills Shopping Centre. I discovered it soon after we had moved into our townhouse that we had purchased in 2004.

[edit] Listing on WP:MVP?

I am somewhat unexperienced in the depths of Wiki management, but this article seemed to be valdalized a bit too frequently. Is it prudent to list it under WP:MVP so that more sysops would notice? Currently I don't think I should request for protection, though-- no edit wars here. --Samuel Curtis-- TALK 15:10, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Relative to most of the articles at WP:MVP, the vandalism of the Taco Bell article is fairly light, and gets reverted fairly quickly. Also, the vandalism is typically just drive-by nonsense without repeat vandalism or serious legal issues such as libel.
If the vandalism gets any heavier, it might be worth proposing semi-protection of the article to prevent anonymous editors, but in my opinion, the vandalism would have to increase to three to four times as much as the current level to even warrant that. BlankVerse 01:31, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Taco Bell Obsessor

OMG I love Taco Bell and I think it is wonderful that they have their own brand of soda (Mountain Dew : Baja Blast). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nycdenim (talkcontribs).

So?

[edit] Taco Bell's second restaurant design picture

While the picture does portray the second Taco Bell building design, the sign above the door is for the more current design. Anyone have a picture of the second sign design?

[edit] Menu

Has the food at Taco Bell changed over the years. In the 80s I remember the Monster "Taco BellGrande" and the crispy "Taco Lite". I remember the beef being tastier, more like home cooked ground beef with a salty seasoning. Now it taste more like filler beef with a saucier seasoning. I also remember when Taco Bell experimented with a breakfast menu and when they really pushed bacon on their menu.Rhallanger 18:01, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] International Stores Question

Hi, Trying to find some sort of info on Taco Bell's ventures outside of the US.

I live in the UK and had a number of stores near me several years ago, which suddenly dissapeared. Some became Wimpy and others became KFC's. But I can't find any info of what happened and if they still operate in Britain. Any help?

I remeber a Taco Bell in Tottenham Court Road, London during the 1980s. I heard the franchise wasn't intially so successfull in the UK (Mexican food was almost completely unknown in England at that point) but I'm not sure exactly when the plucg was pulled. Similarly Wendy's vanished from London around that time. There's a blog on this at http://blogs.warwick.ac.uk/jjameson/entry/has_anyone_ever/ which mentions the rumour of the new store opening in Watford (I hope I'm allowed to include this link here) Zagubov 14:11, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] E. coli in New Jersey

Recently there was an E. coli outbreak from a Taco Bell in South Plainfield, NJ. I think at least ten people are seriously ill. SeanMD80talk | contribs 22:32, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Why was the mention of New Jersey removed from the article? It's just stating New York now. Both New York AND New Jersey have closed down some of the Taco Bells from this outbreak. Eclipsed soul 04:32, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Not sure about the NJ one...the info in the wiki article made mention about Phili but there was no reference in the acutal news article about that...has anyone seen any other press about it? --Mikecraig 04:36, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

I read somewhere that the problem is linked to the same company responsible for that spinach problem. Man, whomever is directly responsible should know to separate veggies from cattle feces. I will still eat at Taco Bell because I love the stuff! The Chicken Enchilada Stuffed Grilled Burrito is now my all-time favorite. -Amit

[edit] Temproary Semi-protection?

Vandalism increased in multiples after the suspected E.Coli incident; is it time to think about semi-protection for a short period. --Samuel Curtis-- TALK 17:13, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

I fixed the vandalism and everything looks good now. Semi protection will make it harder for users to add information about the E.-coli incident and the article does need more information about it because it fails to mention that E.-coli was also found in Taco Bells in Long Island. Right now, the article is not up to date.

In the E. Coli section, it menctions a lettuce E. Coli break out over the summer. The break out to my knowledge effected spinach not lettuce. If anyone has more information please respond. Iwasmadetobreak 06:33, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cutting off "Media Reference" section

I think the "Media References" section is too long and is pretty unencyclopedic. Taco Bell being one of the major fast food chains in the US, there would be an innumerable amount of references to it; and people would go on adding to it. We have to cut down this section leaving only the most importance ones, or just cut it correctly on the general media image of the chain, with references. --Samuel Curtis-- TALK 08:23, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

No matter what you do, people will insist on adding to the section. A better 'solution' may be to move the entire section to its own page. BlankVerse 12:19, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
Is it worth to put on a seperate page containing nearly entirely unencyclopedic content...? --Samuel Curtis-- TALK 13:27, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
Just as there was protracted battle against crappy substub elementary school articles that the school supporters have essentially won, I have a feeling that the next big battle on the Wikipedia may be trivia vs. no trivia proponents. The battle will be long and nasty with multiple RFCs filed, but in the end the trivia supporters will probably win. It's better to just 'hide' the trivia where the subpage can be filled with trivia and factoids and not clutter up the main article. BlankVerse 15:17, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Taco Hell

I'm probably never eating at a Taco Bell agian!!!!

Psdubow

Umm.... ok. This page is for discussing improvements to the article. Got any in mind? -GTBacchus(talk) 23:22, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Controversy

There is no mention in the article about how a few years back Mexican-Americans wanted to boycott Taco Bell over the use of the slogan, "Make a run for the border," because it was insulting to latinos. I clearly remember, because of the out cry by latino groups, Taco Bell changed their slogan. IG-2000 11:06, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Contradicting culprits

The article states "At this time, green onions, also known as scallions, are thought to be the source of the problem. As of December 14, Shredded lettuce appears to be the likely source of problem [4]"

It's a bit confusing as it is now. I don't know enough about the situation to rewrite it properly, though. Prometheus-X303- 16:19, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Slogans

Are all those really Taco Bell slogans? Look at the KFC slogans. Souced, dated, and identified by country (for the most part) Shouldn't this list be like that?

I searched for Taca-taca-taca-taca-taca-taca Taco Bell!, and the only exact match I could find (that wasn't a copy of Wikipedia) was some off-beat post in a forum. Prometheus-X303- 16:36, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] List of Menu Items

There should be a page devoted to listing the items taco bell sells takethemud 00:43, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

UPDATE: I made one, it's accessible from the Taco Bell page.
What about menu discrepancies? For example, Fries Supreme are served at Canadian locations and some combos come with this. In the USA, there are no fries on the menu. Conversely, "Fire" sauce is available at US locations but only "Hot" sauce at Canadian sites. The 2 are not the same - in fact, Canada used to have fire sauce up to the mid-late 1990s. 24.57.195.9 01:10, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Current Events

I was wondering why this was labeled as a current event. meamemg 04:13, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Because of the E. Coli poisonings. The investigation is\was ongoing. Prometheus-X303- 14:29, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
As the templete inidcates that information should be "rapidly changing", and this content seems to be staying about the same for now (Haven't been any change to the ecoli information in at least 2 weeks, unless someone speaks up, I will remove the template. meamemg 22:59, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Current Promotional Item

I was realizing that this data is listed in the History section, perhaps we should give it it's own section elsewhere on the page? Current items don't really fit with History. --admiraljustin 19:26, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Trivia section

This section doesn't make sense to me and is not cited. "There is Yakov Smirnoff joke - "There are no Taco Bells in Russia. They didn't like the slogan, 'Run for the border'." " Should this be included? Shaybear♥

[edit] menu section

The menu section is relatively incomplete. I know the previous article Taco Bell menu was deleted, but I think this section could have more details and other information than it does now. As a comparison, see the articles for other restaurants. Mister.Manticore 02:41, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Secret Menu?

There is a section about a secret menu that must be ordered from discreetly only at the drive through, that "scholars have confirmed". On the list are tequila and nachos galacticos. I'm removing the entire section. Rajb245 16:18, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Please revert

The article should be reverted and locked. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Chaostails1 (talk • contribs) 17:47, 7 February 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Logo history

I don't think they've used the same logo from 1969-1999. If you look at commercials from the 1980s, they used an older logo, so the information about logo history might be incorrect. --PsychoJason 05:33, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
