[edit] Gameplay

Based on the screenshots, this game strongly resembles the Star Trek: Starfleet Command series, maintaining features such as crew selection, comms, overloaded weapons, hexagonal shield arcs, and the ship control interface.

[edit] Single player

There are two playable campaigns, covering a range of missions. The Starfleet campaign is set in 2284 (predates the Star Trek movie, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan) while the Klingon campaign is set after the Khitomer Massacre of 2346.

[edit] Multiplayer

Both versions (DS and PSP) have 1-on-1 multiplayer battles. There are roughly 20 playable ships among 5 races: Federation, Klingon, Romulan, Gorn, and Orion. Unfortunately, the DS does not support Download play or take advantage of Nintendo's Wi-Fi gaming service. Screenshots show that the Constitution- and Miranda-class Federation ships are playable, as well as the Klingon D7 and Bird of Prey. There is also a new, large starfleet ship with three nacelles and a body similar to the Miranda-class starships.

[edit] Publications

Currently, the only published articles relating to Star Trek: Tactical Assault is the article on page 27 of the June 2006 issue of Nintendo Power, and a single screenshot and blurb in the March issue of Game Informer. Unfortunately, almost no new information was released at E3 in May 2006, with playable versions of the game at the Bethesda booth, open only to the Press.
