[edit] Religion

  • Tab Hunter says he's Catholic. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 64.102.254.33 (talkcontribs) .
  • It sounds like his mother might have been Jewish though. Gertrude Gelien is a pretty Jewish name, also so is his birthname. More research is needed. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.180.100.79 (talkcontribs) .
Ooops, I'm wrong. His mother, Gertrude was Lutheran according to NNDB. And his father was Jewish.

  • Tab was raised as a Catholic. His mother, according to him, did not practice the Lutheran religion. His father was a non-practicing Jew.--Kinopanorama widescreen 11:27, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Neutral point of view

The article says "Although he had a mediocre singing voice" which doesn't sound NPOV to me. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.212.45.32 (talk • contribs) .

  • Tab Hunter apparently believed that he could not sing very well, and was quite open about it at the time, and in his recent autobiography. I will revise the sentence accordingly. --Skeezix1000 11:22, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] His spectacle dates, etc.

I have deleted the statement, "according to E! TV documentary, going on the sham dates with young actresses made him extremely uncomfortable". In his autobiography, Hunter copiously recalls these women and the pressures on him to pretend to be romancing them. He makes clear that this he did not feel put out by the aspect of the phony-image-making required of him, and several of these actors were his close friends, especially those who also recognized the sham for what it was. Natalie Wood especially was a cherished friend.

Of course, one needs to be aware that a person's autobiographical recollections could be slanted. But one needs to be equally aware that any reportage is highly error prone and celebrity reportage doubly so, so E! TV is not especially credible (nor especially noncredible). Scrutiny of Hunter's autobiography doesn't support discounting his recollections on this score to a significant extent.

I don't like saying that small children "took" a surname. Tab Hunter's mother was the one who decided this. Hurmata 03:36, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
