Tabora
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tabora is the capital city of Tanzania's Tabora Region with a population of 127,880 (2002 census). It was founded by Arab traders in 1852 but was captured in 1891 and became an administrative centre of German East Africa, when it was known as Weidmannsheil.
Tabora region is one of the largest geographical regions of Tanzania.
Trunk roads connect Tabora to the capital Dodoma and to Mwanza in the north. Salt flats in the west prevent a direct road from connecting to Kigoma, but the Central railway line does extend that far.
