Tablets of Fate

The Tablets of Fate were created by Lord Ao of Abeir-Toril in order to sustain the balance of good and evil, law and chaos. Written on the Tablets are the areas of which each of the gods of the Forgotten Realms rule over.

In the Time of Troubles, Bane and Myrkul, the God of Strife and the God of Death respectively, stole these Tablets and hid them from the eyes of Lord Ao, in hope that Ao would reward those who would return them. The plan went wrong, leading to the deaths and replacements of both, as well as the deities Bhaal and Mystra. Cyric and Midnight took their place, appointed by Ao.
