[edit] Biography

Ta'a Chume was the first of several daughters of Ni'Korish. Following her mother's death she became the leader of the Hapes Consortium. She married and had two children, Kalen and Isolder. Chume felt that Kalen was not fit to lead, however, and so hired a gang of pirates to kill him.

Isolder searched for two years for his brother's killers, and was named Chume'da in the meantime. Isolder became romantically involved and engaged with a noble named Elliar, of whom Chume wasn't fond. She had her killed in one of Hapes's reflecting pools.

[edit] Isolder's Marriage

Leia Organa visited Chume in 8 ABY in hopes of an alliance with the New Republic. After watching her from afar, Isolder fell in love with Organa, and requested Chume's consent to their marriage. The Queen Mother initially approved, but came to hate Organa for her ideals, and plotted to have her killed.

The Hapan fleet went to Coruscant for a formal ceremony accepting the alliance. Organa was presented with many gifts as a marriage proposal. It was then when he foiled the assassination attempt. Han Solo took Organa, forcing Ta'a Chumes to try and find her. After exhausting her spy network, she finally located Luke Skywalker.

Chume tried to seduce Skywalker to lure him into her trap, but he sensed her motivations and left with Isolder for Dathomir to search the planet for Organa and Solo. During a run-in with the Nightsisters and the warlord Zsinj, a local witch named Teneniel Djo became attached to him, and later to Isolder.

After the successful attack on Zsinj by the Hapan fleet, Isolder announced that he planned to marry Djo. Chume disapproved and was angry that he chose a Force-sensitive commoner as her successor. She eventually backed down after Djo threatened to kill her, however.

[edit] Teneniel Djo's rule as Queen Mother

Shortly after Djo gave birth to a daughter, Tenel Ka, in 10 ABY, she became Queen Mother. Djo refused to take advice from Chume, which upset her greatly. In 22 ABY, Djo and Isolder sent Ka to Yavin 4 to train in Skywalker's Jedi Praxeum, against Chume's wishes.

[edit] Teneniel Djo's Assassination

In a battle with the Yuuzhan Vong during the Battle of Fondor, a mishap killed most of the Hapan Navy and brought on Djo's miscarriage. In 27 ABY, Chume tried to replace her daughter-in-law with Han Solo's daughter, Jaina. After realizing the plot, Jaina tried to help Djo, only to find her poisoned by Ni'Korish assassins.

Chume, in an attempt to cover up the murder, arrested and executed all of the Ni'Korish. She in turn tried to reclaim the crown but was stopped by Jaina and Tenel Ka, who accepted her birthright as Queen Mother to prevent her grandmother from reclaiming the throne.

[edit] Ta'a Chume's Punishment

Chume was then arrested and imprisoned for the murder of her daughter-in-law. It is unknown if she was tried, but she was placed under house arrest from 27 ABY to 36 ABY. Again she tried for an assassination, this time going after her baby great-granddaughter. After she made a deal with Gorog for navicomputer technology, they attempted to kill Allana.

Jacen Solo, however, sensed the plot and gave her a brain hemorrhage, which put her in a coma and finally put an end to her reign of terror.
