T'Pring is a fictional character in the Star Trek: TOS universe. She is played by Arlene Martel.
T'Pring is a Vulcan female who appeared in the episode Amok Time. She was married to Spock when they were children and are reunited as adults when Spock experiences pon farr, and must be brought to Vulcan immediately to perform the marriage ritual, the Kunat kalifee, allowing them to mate. The ceremony was to be conducted by the highly respected T'Pau.
When the ceremony took place, T'Pring stunned the onlookers by insisting on the challenge - she selected Captain Kirk as the champion to fight on her behalf. She did this because if Kirk won, he would not want her, and would release her from the marriage, leaving her free to marry her Vulcan lover Stonn; if Spock won, he would reject her for making the challenge at all. And even if Spock chose to proceed with the marriage, he would by both obligation and inclination soon return to his duties with Starfleet, "and I would have your name and your property, and Stonn would still be here." Even Spock was forced to admit that T'Pring's plan was "flawlessly logical" and released her to the unfortunate Stonn.
Spock's parting words to the couple were: "After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing after all as wanting. It is not logical, but is often true."
