TЯAPT (originally released as Kagero II: Dark Illusion in Japan) is a PlayStation 2 real time action/strategy game by Tecmo. The game uses a number of features that are also used by Deception, an earlier game from Tecmo.
The player assumes the role of Princess Allura, who has been framed for the murder of her father, King Olaf. On the night of the king's murder, Allura is accused of killing her father from the words of her stepmother Catalina. With the help from her friend Rachel, Allura is able to escape into the forest. On the run from assassins, she acquires the ability to set violent and lethal traps, which are the only means she has of defending herself from her pursuers. Each character in the game has a unique death scene.

[edit] Gameplay
As the player defeats enemies, they are awarded with "warl" to be able to craft new weapons. The weapons consists of three different positions in a room, wall, ceiling, and floor. For each type of weapon, the player is given the option to choose up to three different weapons to take into each mission.

[edit] Ceiling Traps
Weapons from the ceiling drop from above upon the victim.
- Rocks: 5 variations are available, each have their own elemental properties. They are able to roll down stairs and be pushed by wall traps to increase their attack range
- Vases: 3 types of vases drop from the ceiling. They do not causes much physical damage but can cause other affects such as 'oil' and 'rage'
- Blades: This includes pendulums, yo-yos, huge saws and guillotines. All varied in damage and advanages
[edit] Wall Traps
Weapons from the wall spring out from the walls and hit the victim.
- Arrows: This includes icicles, javelins and arrow slits. They can stretch as far as the length of the room, damaging enemies while traveling and some cause elemental damage as well
- Push Wall: Capable of sending victims flying across the room and into other traps when used wisely. Each type of wall varies in strength and power
- Rolling Bombs: A bomb rolls across the room slowly and explodes upon contact, able to roll down stairs too
- Magnet Wall: A powerful force pulls the enemy into the magnetic trap, making them unable to move for a few seconds
[edit] Floor Traps
Weapons from the floor spring from beneath and strikes the enemy.
- Immobilization: This includes bear traps, spark rods and vacuum floors. Enemies are damaged are unable to move for a short period of time, making them vulnerable to other traps
- Bombs: Quake bomb causes a huge earthquake and fire bombs cause a massive explosion
- Banana Peel: The enemy slips and causes frustration within the enemy
- Spring Floor: The floor rises, sending the enemy flying, 3 variations are available
[edit] Secret Traps
Traps that can be obtained after completing the relevant ending and saving the game afterwards
- Death Pillar (Floor Trap): A huge pillar appears from the floor, damaging enemies as it rises, and able to be knocked over to cause further damage
- Death Iron (Wall Trap): A powerful electrified rock that shoots rapidly from the walls, causing heavy damage. An electric bolt trails behind to trap enemies and electrocute them
- Death Hammer (Ceiling Trap): A massive axe or hammer appears from above and swings swiftly and continuously in a circular motion
[edit] Dark Illusions
As well as purchasing and using traps, the player is capable of using 'dark illusions' to defeat enemies. Each is located in a different room and has a different effect upon an enemy. They require certain criteria to be fulfilled before activation, can only be used once per level, and are essential to achieving a 100% completion score.
- "The Man Eating Music Box": Located in the Hall of the Mansion
- "Heaven's Judgment": Located in the Belfry of the Mansion
- "Cry of the Fallen One": Basement Stairs of the Mansion
- "The Fated Shredding": The sole dark illusion within the palace walls, in the clock hall
- "The Human Cannonball": Discover it in the war room of the Old Castle
- "Feast for the Beast": the Old Castle's Guard room contains this dark illusion
- "The Devil's Trapeze": Found in the entry hall of the Old Castle
- "The Seal of Eternity": Hidden within the sealed room, can only be activated in the last chapter of the main game

The players of TЯAPT mainly play as Allura, the daughter of the recently deceased King. The cast of characters in TЯAPT consist of a number of enemies along with a few allies.

Main character in the story. After the events of her father's death, she is accused of murdering him. Gaining the power to use traps, she begins eliminating her enemies. Many intruders that are fought believe the accusation that she murdered her father and believe she is a traitor.
[edit] Rachel
Allura's maid and friend, Rachel cares greatly for Allura. Willing to aid Allura with fleeing, Catalina orders that she is to be hunted too. She is very close to Allura, and seems more like family than a friend.
[edit] Catalina
One of the antagonists in the game, Catalina is the cold and heartless stepmother of Allura. With the longing Olaf has for his previous wife, Catalina becomes intimidated of her. She also becomes angered at the fact that Allura will not accept her as a mother.

A pure hearted knight who fights along side Allura and believes Catalina to be evil.
[edit] Endings
There are total of three official endings in the game and one that is not registered when saved onto the game file but is considered as an ending. The 'secret traps' are unlocked when you complete the appropriate ending. No additional traps are gained with the "bad ending", however it must be played it out in order to achieve a 100% completion score.
- Ending A: This occurs in chapter 14 if Allura chooses to battle her opponent and wins.
- Ending B: Occurs in chapter 15 if Allura chooses not to battle in chapter 14, and loses the final showdown against the fiend in the last chapter.
- Ending C: As Ending B, but if Allura wins the battle against the fiend.
- "The Bad Ending": In chapter 10, Allura is given a choice to continue her quest, or flee her kingdom. If she chooses to flee, Allura is confronted and must win the battle.
