[edit] Story
In the nights of Tokyo, mysterious deaths involving the 'Reborn Dead' occur. People that are disappearing at night suddenly reappear during the day as a corpse. Not only that, but as the corpses are sent to the morgue to be autopsied, they disappear again leaving signs showing that they escaped themselves.
To fight these 'Reborn Dead' and to prevent more deaths, mysterious transfer student, Tatsuma Hiyuu, and delinquent student, Kyouichi Houraiji, stays up every night to fight and solve what's causing this. Along with the rest of their group, who all have supernatural powers, they soon realize that a greater threat, which involves even more powerful demons, is near.
[edit] Main Characters
Tatsuma Hiyuu (緋勇 龍麻 Hiyū Tatsuma?)
- Tatsuma is the mysterious boy who transferred to Magami High School in his last year. He's often shown as being very silent and carefree, but is shown to have more insight on the people around him. He mostly hangs out with Kyouichi and helps him fight students from other schools, giving him the status of the fifth most delinquent student in Magami High School's history. Tatsuma became close friends with Kyouichi and would often calmly tease and irritate him.
- He may also be the most experienced fighter out of the rest; he knows a person's vital points, whether or not they're fighting seriously, and can tell if a person has killed before. He is often the first to realize a threat that is approaching them and sometimes gets a strange feeling when someone in danger is near him.
- What adds to his mysteriousness is the fact that, two months prior to enrolling in Magami High School, it is revealed that he was actually sent there by his master, saying that his skills will be needed there, although, none of the others know of this.
- Hiyuu has a certain imprint or scar on his right hand since birth and was told from his father that he should treasure it because it will one day be of important use. In his flashbacks of his childhood Hiyuu played games with other kids and he would be able to guess who was where this caused the other kids to run away from Hiyuu calling him a cheater making him feel different. Only Aoi knows of this mark.
- Due to his handsome looks and his habit of sleeping in class, he is often called Sleeping Beauty by his homeroom teacher. He's always seen wearing a blue hoody, with his school uniform worn over it. He also likes to drink strawberry milk.
- Combat Style: Hand-to-hand, Martial Arts
Kyouichi Horaiji (蓬莱寺 京一 Hōraiji Kyōichi?)
- The delinquent student of Magami High School who always carries around a bokutō. He often gets into fights with students from other schools. He also happens to be a boss of a gang.
- When he first encounters Tatsuma, they engage in a fierce fight. However, it seems that the fight was just a way to get to know each other, since they became close friends right after.
- He may seem to be mean to others, but in the end, he always looks out for them and tries to protect them. This is mostly seen towards Aoi, who he's always mean towards, but he may care for her more than he admits.
- Kyouichi appears to be very knowledgeable of the Tokyo underworld. He was acquaintances with several Yakuza henchmen (before they were killed), and knew the location of a hospital that specialized in supernatural cases (this is the hospital where Aoi's body was taken when her soul was trapped inside a dream world).
- Combat Style: Swordsmanship using a Bokutō
Aoi Misato (美里 葵 Misato Aoi?)
- A girl from a rich family and is also the class representative of Magami High School.
- Aoi is a sensitive and passive type of person when it comes to those who she is unable to help.
- In flashbacks, she's shown to have lost someone in a fire and was powerless to help them. Due to this, she has a strong need to help people and gets very emotional when she can't protect them. There is a Scar (from the fire) on her lower back that she shows to Hiyuu and she explains that she doesn't mind having the scar there.
- Initially, her powers were purely defensive in nature, causing her to be very insecure in her ability to fight alongside her friends. After she is possessed by Kodunu (presumably), she begins to use her abilities offensively to generate powerful blasts of force (strong enough to blow away Komaki, Daigo, and Kisaragi with ease).
- Combat Style: psychological powers/ability to heal/naginata-jutsu/Bodhisattva Eye
Komaki Sakurai (桜井 小蒔 Sakurai Komaki?)
- Captain of the Archery Club. She is Aoi's best friend and always gets mad at Kyouichi when he says mean things to Misato who she seem to have a crush on. Komaki, unlike Aoi, is not passive but is more aggressive towards people who get in the way or harm her. Komaki is shown to have lost an archery club friend, who has become an oni to locate and take Komaki’s shooting arm.
- Combat Style: Kyudo
Yuuya Daigo (醍醐 雄矢 Daigo Yūya?)
- Captain of the Wrestling Club and also happens to have a crush on Komaki.
- When Tatsuma first transferred to the school, Yuuya had challenged him to a fight. As they fought, Tatsuma was seen calmy fighting him and was winning before they were interrupted.
- Combat Style: Hand-to-hand, Wrestling
