Tølløse municipality

Tølløse municipality is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in northeastern West Zealand County on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 126 km², and has a total population of 9,832 (2005). Its mayor is Poul Erik Jensen, a member of the Danish Social Liberal Party (Det Radikale Venstre) political party.

The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Tølløse.

Neighboring municipalities are Hvalsø and Bramsnæs to the east, Holbæk to the north, Jernløse to the northwest, Stenlille to the southwest, and Ringsted to the south.

By January 1, 2007 Tølløse unfortunately will cease to exist, as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It will be merged with existing Holbæk, Jernløse, Svinninge, and Tornved municipalities to form a new Holbæk municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 583 km² and a total population of 66,611 (2005). The new municipality will belong to the new Region Sjælland ("Region Zealand").
