[edit] Mirosław Vitali
Hi,
This article could be a valuable asset to Wikipedia. However, it needs to be rewritten in your own words to avoid a copyright violation. You have cut and pasted a number of phrases that need to be recast. Please rewrite the article and place in the edit summary that you have recast it to avoid copy vio. Thanks. :) Dlohcierekim 13:39, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your note. However the Vitali article is based on MY OWN webpage http://biega.com/vitali.html and I have the right to donate any material to the copyright free environment of Wikipedia. Syrenab 15:33, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] reply about deleted article
In reply to your note I did not delete the article. Only an admin can do that.
Sorry to hear of your wasted effort. I think that if you put a note on the Administrator's notceboard that would be the quickest way to get help to get it undeleted.
When you recreate the article, indicate in the edit summary and on the talk page that it is your own work and maybe put the appropriate copy left or GFDL template on the talk page. That will avoid confusion and keep someone else from again deleting the thing. Hope that helps, good luck. :) Dlohcierekim 15:52, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Deletion review
I have posted a note on Deletion review and on the WP:AN. :) Dlohcierekim 16:19, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome to the Military history WikiProject!
Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated quite regularly. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPMILHIST Announcements}} there.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has a monthly newsletter; it will normally be delivered as a link, but several other formats are available.
There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:
- Starting some new articles? Our article structure guidelines outline some things to include.
- Interested in working on a more complete article? The military history peer review and collaboration departments would welcome your help!
- Interested in a particular area of military history? We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, or periods.
- Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every military history article in Wikipedia.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Kirill Lokshin 13:35, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re: POW camps
For the time being, it would be directly under the central project itself; if we ever get a "military law" task force (or something else of the sort) going, it might be applicable there.
(And, of course, the World War II task force would probably be of interest to you as well.) Kirill Lokshin 14:33, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Project categories
Just a minor note: Category:WikiProject Military history is only for internal (i.e. those in the Wikipedia: namespace) pages, and shouldn't be added to normal articles. The better way to tag those is by adding {{WPMILHIST}} to their talk pages. Thanks! Kirill Lokshin 18:06, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Well, I personally feel that the article is a little unwieldy, but I understand the arguments regarding dividing a FA. If the bulk of opinon opposes the split, I would suggest bowing to the weight of general opinion and leaving the article as is. However, it's certainly appropriate to attempt to convince others of your point of view - you might try talking directly to some of those opposed, as well as to other editors who have made large contributions to the article. A project like this requires cooperation amongst several editors in order to ensure that the quality of the article is maintained after the split.
I would suggest talking directly to Kirill Lokshin and see if you can get some support there.

[edit] Re:Women in war
I didn't remove them from the entire category, I just placed them into the Women in World War II subcategory, since all the camps were WWII POW camps. Asarelah 01:10, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

- If an article is in one category, it is not supposed to be placed into the supercategory. When I first came to Wikipedia, I made the same mistake with the category "Native American leaders" and "Native American people", only to be informed that it was not appropriate. Don't feel embarrassed, many newcomers make this mistake. Asarelah

[edit] THE 14TH ARMORED DIVISION AND THE LIBERATION OF STALAG VIIA
Hello,
I am the author of "The 14th Armored Division and the Liberation of Stalag VIIA," published in the Fall, 2005 issue of On Point: The Journal of Army History, and republished with endnotes on the official website of the 14th Armored Division Association as well as Moosburg Online.
I suppose you must be right, and I should get my facts straight before editing the (your?) page. Any suggestions on how I might learn more about the liberation of Stalag VIIA? I will be sure to tell my friend who operates Moosburg Online that he has the designation of the camp wrong, and let Lt. Gen. Clark know that he got it wrong in his book, as well as the editor US Air Force Academy's official website.
I operate the official website of the 14th Armored Division, serve as the National Historian, and sit on the Board of Directors. Perhaps you can offer some suggestions on how I might improve the accuracy of our website content. Feel free to contact me at 14thADAssociation@cox.net
Also, it seems strange that there are links to two different webpages containing my article. Would it not be more appropriate to link to the original page on the 14th Armored Division website?
[edit] 5 October 0835 hours
I added some more material to the Stalag VII A article, and made some changes. I am depending on you to let me know if I made any mistakes. "LIBERATORS"
- No problem. Whether to have a hyphen or not is not that big an issue. Many references in the literature have a hyphen, others don't.
Why don't you register as an editor? So many of the edits done by anonymous editors turn out to be vanadalism or spam and then have to be corrected.

You have to edit the redirect. At the top of the Colditz page, where it says "redirected from Oflag-IVC," click on "Oflag-IVC." This will take you to the redirect page. You have to edit this page to remove the redirect, then you can add content. Carom 20:17, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
Thank you. Even though I was still unable to Move "Oflag 4c", I was able to copy entire content over. Syrenab 14:33, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
- Colditz Castle needs a serious edit job now - if Oflag IV C is going to be the main page for the POW camp, the section in the Colditz article needs to be seriously trimmed. It can't just be duplicate information. When editing, you should provide links to the relevant sections of the Oflag article. Carom 14:58, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
- Yes I have done just that. Syrenab 15:14, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
-
- It might be preferable to turn Colditz Castle into a redirect to Oflag IV C, and give a toplink disambig to Colditz - it's probably uncessary to have a page for Colditz Castle, given that it has no content, and there probably doesn't need to be a full disambig page. [edit] Colditz.
Hi!
I read your response to my project at Talk:Colditz Castle. I dug through the edit history and I agree with what you were trying to do (the article is way too long) but it could probably have been done in a better fashion - no offense intended; that is just my take on it. If you have an interest in Colditz, join the project and we can hammer out a way to do it properly! -- Qarnos

[edit] Translation help?
Hi! I found your name on the translators list, and was wondering if you'd be able to help me a bit. I've been trying to expand Golubac fortress, and one part currently in the article, about the Babakaj stone, is starting to seem like it'd be better off as it's own article. In my attempts to find more information about either part, I found this page (I'm guessing it's Polish, but if not, any idea what it is?) which, from the few words I can relate to English, appears to be a legend about Babakaj, but what does it say? Is there any other information? I also found this page but I'm not so sure it's related at all. Is it?
In any case, if you have the time and don't mind translating one or both pages, it'd be much appreciated! And don't worry about making anything formal or well-written or anything, bullet points or whatever's easiest for you is fine -- I'll almost certainly be tearing it to bits to fit it in with other information anyhow. Thanks!
Oh, and the other little edits I did to your talk page... Everything in a box like that was scaring me. :-p If you'd rather I hadn't closed it off up at the top, go ahead and undo it, and my apologies for messing with it. -Bbik 23:25, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- Answer ent to your page. Syrenab 14:07, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- You're right, that doesn't seem to be the same thing at all. Thanks anyhow! -Bbik 19:40, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
