Talk:Synaptotagmin
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hey there, I'm wondering why you make specific mention of PIPs being the binding partners for calcium bound synaptotagmin? I was under the impression that it binds to negatively charged phospholipid head groups, which is the whole point of it being an "electrostatic switch" DeadpanScience 17:50, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Deadpan Science
- The whole idea is that the regulation of the lipid composition of the presynaptic membrane affects the synaptotagmin "dipping" in the lipid membrane. There is no contradiction with the electrostatic switch idea, the current focus of PIPs is much more detailed discussion. Danko Georgiev MD 07:11, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Guidelines in adding references
Dear editors, please do not add references without purpose.
- Wikipedia is not advertisement board of papers, everyone can do PubMed search.
- When you add reference, please use the "ref" template incorporated in the article.
- And last, but not least, when you add reference please write some text in the main article. The purpose of this encyclopedia is to provide concise information in the main text, not to provide a bunch of references.
I will try to expand the article in the near future, when I have some free time, and I will be glad if someone also contributes to expand the text, not to expand the reference list. Kind regards, Danko Georgiev MD 07:07, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
