Synostosis

Osseous union between the bones forming a joint, an example being the paired frontal bones of the skull which normally fuse along the metopic suture postnatally.

In medical contexts, synostosis is the abnormal development of a joint. It is a type of dysostosis.

Examples of syntoses include craniosynostosis and syndactyly.
