Symptoms of a Leveling Spirit is the fifth full-length album from Californian hardcore punk band, Good Riddance. It was released on July 10, 2001 on Fat Wreck Chords, and is produced by the same team of Bill Stevenson (Black Flag, Descendents), Jason Livermore, and Stephen Egerton, who produced their previous two albums and EP.
The band welcomed a new drummer, Dave Wagenschutz, for this recording. He was to be a permanent replacement for Sean Sellers and contributed to the band's next effort, Bound By Ties of Blood and Affection in 2003. However, Sean Sellers returned for 2006's My Republic.
This album became the fourth to include a hidden track at the end of the disc. It was also produced in a limited number of 546 grey marble vinyl pressings, which are currently not out of print. The enhanced CD has a 4:30 movie, including a trailer for the DVD, 1994-1999 Exposed, which was available through Fat Wreck Chords, and a music video for "One For The Braves" from The Phenomenon of Craving EP.
