Sylvia Wynter

Sylvia Wynter (born 1928 in Cuba) is a Caribbbean novelist, dramatist and essayist.
Wynter's parents were Jamaican, and she returned to Jamaica as a child to be educated there. She obtained a BA from the University of London (1947-49) and a MA in 1953. She has written and produced radio/television plays for the BBC. She has held posts at the University of the West Indies, the University of Michigan,University of California, and Stanford University.
