Syed Sikander Mehdi

Prof. Syed Sikander Mehdi is a noted scholar of International Relations, Refugees and Migration Studies and Peace Studies from Pakistan who served twice as Registrar of the University of Karachi, Pakistan. He is a Professor at, and former Chairman of, the Department of International Relations, University of Karachi, and Director, Program on Rafugees and Migration Studies.

Prof. Mehdi holds MA in International Relations from Dhaka University, Bangladesh and got several Post Graduate Scholarships/Fellowships. He has a vast teaching/Research experience and has remained research fellow of some distinguished institutes of the world. He specializes in Refugees and Migration Studies and Peace Studies and has taught Peace Research and Peace Movements, Refugee and Migration Issues, South Asian Nuclear Armament and Disarmament issues, Peace and Nonviolence in Teaching and Practice with particular reference to South Asia. He has athored several research articles and book chapters. He has also completed several reasearch projects and has arranged & participated in many national, regional and international seminars/workshops/conferences. He has been invited as a Guest Speaker by various Staff Colleges including the Air War College, National Defense College and Command and Staff College and has also been invited by TV channels as an expert for their Current Affairs programs. He holds membership of the several academic bodies.
