Sydney Youngblood

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sydney Youngblood is an American-born German singer. He had two top 40 hits in the UK and Europe in 1989, "Sit 'n' Wait" and his debut "If Only I Could". In the US, the song "I'd rather go blind" (origally sung by Etta James) found some rotation on the dance scene. In the U.K. his debut was one of the biggest sellers of the year (1989) despite only peaking at number three. This was mainly as the two bigger sellers at the time of charting were high sellers, with the number one, Blackbox's "Ride on Time" being the year's best seller. "Sit 'n' Wait" reached number 15 in the U.K. early in 1990.

"If Only I Could" was also covered by Australian singer Wendy Matthews, who took her version into the top 20 of her native country's singles chart during 1990.
