[edit] Overview

Swords of Dalriada re-enacts the battles of the Wars of Scottish Independence during the 13th and 14th Century, such as the Battle of Loudoun Hill and the Battle of Bannockburn. They also specialise in Living history, where they display various trades and crafts common during the period.

They are also known to re-enact the Viking invasions.

[edit] Authenticity

Swords of Dalriada is also one of the most authentic groups in Scotland in both appearance and battle co-ordination. They don't wear kilts and plaid that is depicted in films such as braveheart and opt to wear clothing such as braes and coats.

While re-eacting battles, they have a clear hierarchy. Where most groups would have 20 knights fighting each other, Swords of Dalriada has one or two knights on each side with some men at arms and the rest of each army consisting foot soldiers. Swords of Dalriada are also trained mainly to use polearms as opposed to swords.

[edit] Performances

Swords of Dalriada mainly perform small shows at Gala Fairs. However, they do participate in large multi-group battle reenactments such as Bannockburn and Largs Viking Festival (which Swords of Dalriada ran in 2006).
